The Statue of Liberty The Statue of Liberty was built in 1882 to 1884. It took 3 years to build it. The Statue of Liberty is 305 feet tall. That is so much taller than anyone’s parents! It is made of pure copper and it’s very pretty! The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the people of France, conceived and designed as a monument to a great international friendship! That is so cool. Its birthday was in 2008 it turned 123 years old. That is really old. The Statue of Liberty weighs 250,000.That is really heavy! The Statue of Liberty is there so people remember their freedom. The poem on the base of it is “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest tots to me; I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”Isn’t that poem really touching to you?
