The Taj Mahal is the epitome of Mughal art and one of the most famous buildings in the world. In 1631 the emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in memory of his wife Mumtaz, who died in childbirth. It is white because it is the monument of a man’s love for a woman.
